For awhile now people have been discussing how todays Baseball stars such as Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire have all been caught using performance enhancers and how they disgraced Americas Game, should be banned from the Hall of Fame and should be executed... bla bla bla...
Well... Not to be the Bearer of bad news but... Players have been using steroids long before the recent scandals....
In 1889, for example, pitcher Pud Galvin became the first baseball player to be widely known for his use of performance enhancing substances.
Pitcher Tom House who played for the Braves from 1971 to 1978 admitted to using steroids during his career. He also estimated that 6 or 7 pitchers on every team's staff was using steroids. His best friend and teammate was someone we all know as... Hank Aaron...
The 60's and Early 70's were all about people experimenting with drugs so its more than likely that some of the "All time greats" experimented with steroids as well.For all we know Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and the rest of the baseball greats could have used steroids more than Todays stars... we wud never kno...
Steroids didnt become Illegal till 1991, and players didnt start being tested until 2003... The unfortunate truth is that its part of the sport..
