NBA 2011 Predictions

2011 NBA Season Preview

After a big scare thank god (or who ever you wish to thank depending on your religious beliefs) there will be NBA Basketball. The most anticipated season in history ended with Americas Most hated "Miami Heat" losing to the 2002 AllStar team "Dallas Mavericks". Fast forward to this season and we have Arguably the biggest Opening day in History, headlined by a rematch between the 2010 Finalists. Add to that Boston vs New York, and Chicago vs LA Lakers and we should learn alot about this season on the very first day.

FAVORITES IN EAST

Miami Heat: Last year they was on Paper a great team, this Year they will be a great team on the Court. With that talent, experience, and not team Chemistry anything less than a 55 win season (Only a 66 game season this year) and a Championship will be a huge dissapointment.

Chicago Bulls: Last year everyone said the Bulls are a year away. This year they are still a year away. Outside of Derrick Rose They lack enough offensive firepower to seriously challenge for a title.

New York Knicks: Similar to Miami the heat also has alot of star power. Carmelo and Amare however dont seem to have the same Chemistry that Wade and Lebron has, and NY's team defense is of great concern. Look for the Knicks to go further in the playoffs but not far enough.

Boston Celtics:  With Jeff green out for the season, and Rondo on the trading block (for some stupid reason) the Celtics need to start building for the future, because their aging "Big 3" wont seem so big for much longer. With that being said they still have one of the most aggressive defenses in the league, and that should take them into the postseason.

FAVORITES IN WEST

LA Lakers: The Lakers attempted to sell the franchise (Minus Kobe) for Chris Paul, but that got shutdown (Thats an argument for a different article). Bad News is they lost Lamar Odom, one of the most dynamic and underrated players in the NBA. Good News they still have Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum. This Laker team is likely on its last lap, so its now or never. If Bynum can stay Healthy, Gasol can play tough, and Kobe can stay focus through all his off court drama then they are still the favorites in the West.

Dallas Mavericks: They shocked the world last season by sweeping the 2 time defending champion lakers, Out scoring the high flying thunder, and out toughing Miami's "Dream Team". This season will be a little tougher, as no one will sleep on them, and they now have a Target on them. With Dirk Nowitski they will be a very strong regular season team as usual. How far they go in the post season will depend on their bench play, and team defense. The whole "Live by the 3, Die by the 3" philosophy wont be as succesful this year.

Oklahoma Thunder: The Thunder can score with the best of them, and has glimpses of being great, but seem to lack the mental toughness that the elite teams have. For the 3rd year in a row they may still be a year away.

LA Clippers: The Clippers won the Chris Paul sweepstakes, and while this no doubt greatly improves this team, they are still a couple years away from taking over LA... let alone the West.

Predictions

MVP: Kobe Bryant
Kobe plays the best when his back is against the wall. With his maritial problems at an all time high, and many analysts picking against the Lakers look for Kobe to dominate and show that he is still the best player in the NBA until further notice.

Western Confrence Finals

Oklahoma Thunder (47-19) vs Los Angeles Lakers (45-21)

The Lakers are lucky to be playing in the West. Thunder will propose their playoff greatest Challenge in the west but the Thunder are a  year away and the Lakers are likely on their last stand. Lakers in 6

Eastern Confrence Finals:

Miami Heat (56-10) vs Chicago Bulls.(52-14)

Miami has too much overrall talent to be denied this year. Miami in 5

Los Angeles Lakers vs Miami Heat

NBA finally gets Kobe vs Lebron on the biggest stage. Look for Kobe to give a very determined effort, but have little help else where. Miami wins in 6

2011 NFL Week 1 Picks

Game of the Week: Saints vs Packers. The last 2 Superbowl Champs + 2 Elite Quarterbacks = Classic. Aaron Rodgers finally got rid of the Brett Favre comparisons by Winning the Superbowl last year, but I seen the classic Superbowl Hangover poke its head way too many times. Saints win this one late,
Score Saints 31, Packers 28.

Game of the Week: Steelers vs Ravens. When is the last time these AFC North rivals didnt play a good game? Dont worry I'll wait. The hardest hitting rivalry in sports is a great way to kickoff the season, and this matchup can go along way of telling who wins the division and who ends up fighting for one of the very competitive AFC wildcard spots.
Score Steelers 18, Ravens 10

Upset of the Week: Rams over Eagles. Eagles might be the dream team, but if this is the NFL where any team can really beat anyteam. Sam Bradford is going to have a ProBowl year this year and this is where it starts. Rams win.
Score Rams 21. Eagles 17.

Blowout of the Week: Arizona over Carolina. Welcome to the NFL Cam Newton. Score Arizona 31, Carolina 10

Boring Game of the Week: San Francisco vs Seattle. The division matchup in the NFC Worst West should be a snooze fest, as both teams have horrible Quarterbacks, Overrated Running backs, Overrated head coaches, Average defenses, and Ugly Cheerleaders.

Gay Marriage in New York

"OK, let me get this STRAIGHT...Kelsey Grammer can end a 15 yr marriage by phone, Larry King is on divorce #9, Britney Spears had a 55 hr marriage, Jesse James & Tiger Woods, while married, were having sex with EVERYONE, Many political figures including The President of the United States cheat on their spouse, 53% of Americans get divorced and 30-60% cheat on their spouses. Yet, same-sex marriage is going to destroy the institution of marriage? Really?"

If you have any other reason for not allowing gays to marry that doesnt have to do with Religion you need to step outside of your box of Ignorance and wake up to reality.

Show me something in the US constitution that says we are deemed a Christian Nation. (Don't worry I'll wait lol)   Government and Religion needs to be separate for a true democratic nation to prosper.
If the US really is "The Land of the Free" as it claims to be, then everyone needs to have equal rights, and not be discriminated against on basis of race, religion, sex, or sexual preference.
This country based itself on Freedom. Unlike a lot of other nations, it allows you to practice whatever religion you choose. It allows freedom of speech and expression, and allows for the most part the opportunity to succeed.
Not giving Gays the right to be married based on a personal Religious interpretation is not only wrong but it is unconstitutional.
50 Years from not the US will look back on this and realize how stupid it really is. Remember not too long ago Jim Crow laws were held up in a court of law and "Separate but equal" was said to be 100% Constitutional and legal. Why must this country always repeat its own negative history?

Keys to live Stress Free

Stress is an inevitable part of life. Its up there with taxes, only difference is that even people in Florida have to deal with Stress. The key is to control the Stress, and not let it control you. Here's some Tips to help.

Top 10 Tips for Being Stress-Free
by Jan Gordon and Reggy Brown

1. Give up caring about what others think. Do what's right for you and feel good about it. Also realize that putting all of your problems on facebook and twitter only serves as entertainment for others. You dont want to be the Charlie Sheen of you community now do you?

2. Exercise! Stretch your body and release those endorphins! Living more in your body will deepen your day to day experience and exponentially increase the quality of your life and your sense of well being.

3. Have fun! You only live once so make sure you enjoy every single day. Don't forget how wonderful it feels to laugh. Never let anyone or anything take away your smile.

4. Community. Let others join you in what you're doing. When we live from the concept that "we're all in this together" we live from a shared humanity. This creates a sense of
camaraderie and community which buffers us from the stresses of day to day life.

5. Don't take everything so personally. Listen to others objectively; it's not always about you! Dont be so sensitive.

6. Listen to different perspectives. This enlarges your perspective which leads to greater understanding and an enhanced sense of compassion.

7. Delight yourself. Surround yourself with whatever it is that delights you. Surround yourself with beauty, with music, with motion, colors or sounds. Pamper your senses to create a stress-free environment.

8. Create Space. Don't take on projects or responsibilities that don't directly connect to your values or goals. Create space for the things you want more of in your life by keeping the less important things out.

9. Hakuna Matata. It means No Worries. Bad things happen and there's nothing you can do about it so why worry. "Sometimes all you can do is smile and wait to see what happens next"

10. Business before play. Take care of business so you can relax and play with your friends and family. If you don't take care of business, it'll be hard to give yourself to life's joy.
